The in-cosmetics Global exhibition in Barcelona was one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for professionals in the cosmetics and personal care industry. This annual event brings together the world's leading suppliers, manufacturers, and R&D specialists to showcase the latest products, technologies, and trends in the beauty and personal care sector.
Previously attended the event as a visitor, this year Cellugy was one of the over 800 exhibitors at in-cosmetics 2023 in Barcelona. The event was predicted to be the biggest so far, featuring interactive exhibits, networking opportunities, seminars, and panel discussions.
"In-cosmetics was the perfect forum to meet and share impressions with like-minded innovators and industry leaders from all over the world. " Isabel Alvarez-Martos, CEO & Co-founder
While many innovative ingredients were showcased at in-cosmetics Global, EcoFLEXY, Cellugy’s biofabricated cellulose, seemed to have sparked many attendees’ interests. The booth of Cellugy showcased EcoFLEXY in different forms – as a suspension with different percentages of cellulose, as a spray, as part of a formulated cream, and as a powder, which up to date is Cellugy’s most popular form of the ingredient.
“They were all very curious to feel (and even taste!) our product.” Alixander Perzon, Material Scientist
EcoFLEXY stood out compared to other ingredients. The attendees, brands, and formulators talking to our team were impressed not only by the production of this pure cellulose ingredient but also by its properties.
“We are proud to have received such positive feedback for our ingredient and we are grateful for a market that welcomes innovative small companies like ours.” Clara Capparelli, Customer Engagement Coordinator
After all, exhibitors and attendees of this trade fair are coming together for the same reason – creating and distributing the best personal care products on the market. But one aspect of interest was definitely much higher than the previous years – sustainability. The industry is seeking more products that are environmentally friendly in all aspects.
“Formulation technology is as much of an art as a science because in the end, it is all about the aesthetics of the final product. People always seem to be looking for novelty in this regard, and the interest in truly environmentally friendly ingredients has never been higher.” Alixander Perzon, Material Scientist
With EcoFLEXY being biobased and biodegradable by design and meeting a lot of other personal care standards (e.g. non-GMO, vegan, etc.) it shows that Cellugy has tapped into a demand that is increasing in the personal care industry.
“It was a great opportunity to exchange views about the major challenges the industry is facing and discuss how EcoFLEXY can help the industry to overcome them. We feel overwhelmed by the high interest and positive feedback our product received and look forward to continuing those conversations.” Isabel Alvarez-Martos, CEO & Co-Founder
Bringing EcoFLEXY on the market and scaling up our production has been our main priority in the past months, and with this positive feedback, we are eager to work even faster to reach this goal. Overall, the team can say that in-cosmetics brought a lot of inspiration, motivation, and thoughts which we are eager to keep working on.
“In-cosmetics was a huge success for Cellugy. It was the perfect platform to share our innovative ingredient with the personal care sector and foster relationships that will help us bring EcoFLEXY to the market.” Clara Capparelli, Customer Engagement Coordinator
